Warp, Weave, Win!

Ah, les fêtes. Tant de bouffe, de visites, de tâches ménagères à accomplir en si peu de temps! Je m’étais promise l’an dernier que je ne tricoterais pas de cadeaux pour les fêtes cette année…  Nous devions nous préparer pour un voyage en Colombie Britannique pour rendre visite à la famille du monsieur et il y avait beaucoup à faire avant notre départ.  Au lieu de tricoter quoi que ce soit, j’ai sorti mon métier à tisser et j’ai visé une écharpe par jour, pour chaque membre de famille qui nous attendait là-bas. Le résultat : cinq écharpes en moins d’une semaine, juste à temps pour le décollage.  Ce fut mes premiers essais avec le métier à tisser et grâce à quelques vidéos Youtube j’ai pu compléter ces cinq projets avec très peu de difficulté. Les rebords ne sont pas forcément droits et le look est loin de professionnel, mais j’ai confiance qu’avec un peu plus de pratique mes bordures deviendront moins irrégulières.  

Ah, the holidays. So much food to prepare, people to see, and chores to do in so little time. I’d promised myself last year that I would avoid knitting Christmas gifts this time around after having desperately tried to dry the blocked gifts with a blow dryer minutes before the holiday parties were to start, having to explain to the recipients the reasons why their gifts were still damp and that alpaca truly is supposed to smell that awful when wet! So this year I broke in my rigid heddle loom thanks to some helpful Youtube videos. I was able to weave five scarves in five days - one for each family member waiting for us to visit in BC and I finished just in time for our flight (literally minutes before we left for the airport!).
